SIlver Festival 2026

The Silver Festival will return to the Whangārei District from 1–14 October 2026, celebrating older adults through a wide range of community events, activities, and special offers.

Registrations now open until 19 July

Community groups, clubs, businesses, and organizations are invited to register events and activities that celebrate older adults and encourage participation, connection, and wellbeing. 

The festival, facilitated by Whangārei District Council as part of its commitment to becoming an Age-Friendly Community, provides opportunities for older adults to explore what is available in their community, try something new, stay active, connect with others, and most importantly, have fun.

The programme includes one-off events created specifically for the festival, recurring activities that take place throughout the year, and voucher offers from local businesses and organizations. Together, these create a diverse range of opportunities for older community members to engage with their interests and discover new experiences.

Last year's festival featured a wide variety of events and activities across the district, attracting strong community participation and showcasing the valuable contributions older adults make to the Whangārei community
